  • 1/3 cup soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 2–2.5 pounds tri tip roast


Instructions

  1. Mix Marinade: In a medium bowl or large zip-top bag, combine olive oil, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, garlic, Dijon mustard, black pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Coat tri tip in the marinade.
  2. Marinate: Seal and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Prep Grill: Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill Tri Tip: Cook for 5–6 minutes per side to sear, then reduce heat to medium or indirect heat. Total cooking time is about 20–25 minutes for medium-rare.
  5. Rest and Slice: Let the tri tip rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
