Ingredients
Scale
Bread Ring
- 20 Rhodes frozen rolls
- Melted butter for brushing
Spinach Artichoke Dip Filling
- 8-9 oz package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well drained
- 14 oz artichokes (jarred or canned), well drained and chopped
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prepare pans: Generously coat two 9-inch round pans with melted butter or nonstick spray. Position a 6-inch bowl upside down in the center of each pan to create a ring shape.
- Let rolls rise: Arrange ten frozen rolls evenly around each bowl. Lightly spritz the rolls with cooking spray and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Drape a towel over both pans and let them sit in a warm area until the rolls double in size, approximately 2 to 3 hours.
- Prepare spinach and artichokes: Make sure to remove all excess water from the thawed spinach and drain the artichokes thoroughly. Chop both and set aside to use in the filling mixture.
- Make the dip: In a large bowl, blend together cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, parmesan, mozzarella, salt, pepper, garlic, basil, and red pepper flakes until fully combined. Fold in the chopped spinach and artichokes. Refrigerate this mixture while the rolls are rising.
- Preheat oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) in preparation for baking.
- Fill the rolls: After the rolls have risen, carefully remove the bowl from the center of each pan. Spoon half of the prepared spinach artichoke mixture into the now empty center space of each pan, forming a filled ring.
- Brush with butter: Brush each risen roll generously with melted butter to enhance browning and flavor.
- Bake: Place the pans in the oven and bake for 25 to 28 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, serve the bread ring hot, and enjoy this delicious cheesy spinach artichoke twist on a classic bread ring.
Notes
- Ensure spinach and artichokes are well-drained to avoid a soggy filling.
- If you don’t have frozen rolls, you can substitute with fresh yeast rolls but adjust rising time accordingly.
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of extra parmesan or mozzarella on top before baking.
- Use a kitchen towel and plastic wrap to maintain moisture while the rolls rise.
- This recipe yields two bread rings, perfect for parties or gatherings.
