- 200 g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Noodles & Vegetables
- 250 g egg noodles or lo mein noodles
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
Sauce & Seasoning
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp mirin or rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (cornstarch slurry)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
Garnish
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until tender, then drain and set aside to be added later.
- Prepare Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, mirin (or rice vinegar), sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the flavorful teriyaki sauce.
- Cook Steak: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced flank steak and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook Shrimp: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the skillet, then add the shrimp. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and are just cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside with the steak.
- Stir-Fry Vegetables: Using the same skillet, add the sliced red bell pepper and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are just tender, maintaining some crispness.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the skillet along with the cooked noodles. Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over everything and toss gently to combine all the flavors.
- Thicken Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the noodles and other ingredients.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the noodles to serving bowls and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added texture and flavor before serving hot.
Notes
- Substitute flank steak with sirloin or ribeye for variations in flavor and texture.
- For additional veggies, add snow peas or carrots to the stir-fry.
- Add chili flakes or sriracha to the sauce for a spicy kick.
