For the Prawn Toast:
- 8 slices white sandwich bread (crusts removed)
- 1 lb raw prawns (peeled and deveined)
- 2 green onions (finely chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tablespoon ginger (grated)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 egg white
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- ¼ cup sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
For Assembly:
- 4 small slider buns or brioche rolls
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon sriracha
- 1 cup shredded lettuce or cabbage
- Fresh cilantro or mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prawn Toast Preparation: In a food processor, combine prawns, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg white, salt, and white pepper. Pulse until a thick, slightly chunky paste forms.
- Coating and Frying: Spread the prawn mixture onto bread slices, press sesame seeds onto one side, fry in oil until golden on both sides.
- Assembly: Cut toasts to fit slider buns, mix mayo and sriracha, spread on buns, add lettuce, top with prawn toast, garnish, and serve.
Notes
- You can use shrimp instead of prawns if needed.
- For a baked version, brush the prawn toast with oil and bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes until golden.
- Serve with pickled vegetables or a simple slaw for added crunch.
