Description

These Peachy Cinnamon Rolls combine the classic cinnamon roll flavors with juicy, fresh peaches to create a delightful breakfast or dessert treat. Soft, fluffy dough is generously filled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture and chopped peaches, then baked to golden perfection and topped with a smooth vanilla glaze.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Filling

  • 1 cup fresh or canned peaches, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until the batter is smooth and combined.
  2. Knead the Dough: Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6 to 8 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  5. Roll Out the Dough: Punch down the risen dough to release air. Roll the dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  6. Spread the Filling and Peaches: Evenly spread the softened butter over the rolled dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top, then evenly distribute the finely chopped peaches over the surface.
  7. Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  8. Second Rise: Cover the rolls loosely and let them rise again in a warm environment for 30 to 40 minutes until puffy.
  9. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25 to 30 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
  10. Prepare the Glaze and Serve: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Once the rolls are baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh peaches for a juicier, fresher flavor or canned peaches if fresh are not available.
  • Kneading can be done by hand or with a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.
  • If dough is sticky, dust hands and surface lightly with flour to manage sticking.
  • Cover the dough during rising to prevent drying out.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute milk and butter with plant-based alternatives.
  • Ensure the milk is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast effectively.
