Description

Enjoy a delicious copycat version of McDonald’s Philly Cheese Stack Loaded Fries featuring crispy baked French fries topped with sautéed onions, bell peppers, tender beef steak, and a rich cheese sauce. This indulgent dish is perfect as an appetizer or main course and brings the iconic Philly cheese steak flavors to loaded fries.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 1 lb frozen French fries
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Vegetables

  • 1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

Beef

  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin recommended)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese

  • 1/2 cup cheese sauce (mild cheddar or processed cheese)
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Garnish (optional)

  • Chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the Fries: Bake or air fry the frozen French fries according to the package directions until they are golden and crispy. Set aside once done.
  2. Sauté Onions and Peppers: In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add the thinly sliced onions and green bell peppers and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften and become slightly caramelized.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add the thinly sliced beef steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  4. Warm the Cheese Sauce: Heat the cheese sauce in a small saucepan or microwave until it becomes smooth and pourable.
  5. Assemble the Loaded Fries: Spread the cooked fries out on a serving platter or tray. Evenly distribute the cooked beef, onions, and peppers over the fries. Drizzle generously with the warmed cheese sauce.
  6. Add Mozzarella and Garnish: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the fries and cheese sauce. Allow it to melt slightly from the residual heat. Optionally, garnish with chopped parsley for freshness and color.
  7. Serve Immediately: Serve the loaded fries hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For extra cheesy goodness, place the assembled loaded fries under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until the mozzarella melts completely.
  • Substitute provolone or American cheese in place of mozzarella for a more authentic Philly cheese steak flavor.
  • Use gluten-free fries and cheese sauce to make this recipe suitable for a gluten-free diet.
