Description

A refreshing Italian Soda made with sparkling water and flavored syrup, optionally enriched with creamy half-and-half for a delicious cream soda variant. Simple to prepare, this vibrant drink is perfect for summer or any time you crave a sweet, fizzy beverage.

Ingredients

Scale

Italian Soda

  • 1/2 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • 1/4 cup flavored syrup (such as raspberry, vanilla, or orange)
  • Ice cubes

Cream Soda (Optional)

  • 1/4 cup half-and-half or heavy cream
  • Whipped cream for garnish (optional)
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes to chill the drink properly and keep it refreshingly cold.
  2. Add Syrup: Pour the 1/4 cup of your chosen flavored syrup over the ice, allowing it to settle at the bottom to create a flavorful base.
  3. Pour Club Soda: Slowly add 1/2 cup of club soda or sparkling water over the syrup and ice, filling the glass most of the way. Stir gently to combine the syrup and soda without losing carbonation.
  4. Add Cream (Optional): If making the cream soda version, carefully pour 1/4 cup half-and-half or heavy cream over the mixture. Stir gently again to blend without flattening the bubbles.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Top the drink with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry if desired. Serve immediately with a straw for sipping the fizzy, sweet layers.

Notes

  • Use any flavored syrup you prefer; Torani and Monin are popular and reliable brands.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute half-and-half with oat or almond milk respectively.
  • Experiment by layering different syrups for creative flavor combinations and visual appeal.
