Description

A simple and delicious Honey Garlic Salmon recipe featuring tender salmon fillets cooked in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, enhanced with fresh lemon juice and garlic, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 1 pound fresh salmon
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Chopped fresh parsley, optional, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Cut the salmon into 4 equal pieces. Season both sides of each piece with salt and pepper evenly to enhance flavor.
  2. Cook the Salmon: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Place the salmon pieces skin side up in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is just cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Adjust the heat if the oil splatters excessively to prevent burning.
  3. Make the Sauce: While the salmon cooks, combine lemon juice, soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic in a bowl. Stir well until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  4. Remove Salmon and Reduce Sauce: Transfer the cooked salmon to a plate to rest. Pour the honey garlic sauce mixture into the same pan and allow it to bubble gently for a couple of minutes. This will reduce the sauce slightly and cook the garlic to perfection.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return the salmon to the pan and spoon the reduced sauce over the fillets to coat them evenly. Serve immediately with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice on top and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of your salmon pieces to avoid overcooking.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari.
  • Fresh parsley adds a nice color and fresh flavor but is optional.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables, rice, or a light salad.
  • Be careful not to burn the garlic while reducing the sauce as it can become bitter.
