Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 2 1/2 lb party chicken wing dings (disjointed with tips removed)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 tsp jerk seasoning (up to 9 tsp for extra heat)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Cooking spray
Honey Garlic Sauce
- 2 tbsp salted butter
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 tsp tamari (gluten-free soy sauce)
- 1/4 tsp gluten-free hot sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger (or fresh grated ginger, if desired)
- 1/8 tsp smoked paprika
Instructions
- Prepare the wings: In a large bowl, pat dry the chicken wings with a paper towel. Season with salt, pepper, jerk seasoning, and baking powder, tossing until all wings are well coated and evenly combined.
- Preheat air fryer and arrange wings: Set the air fryer temperature to 400°F (200°C). Spray the air fryer rack with cooking oil to prevent sticking. Arrange the chicken wings evenly on the rack, making sure they are not overcrowded to allow crisping.
- Initial cooking: Cook the wings for 15 to 17 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time. The wings should become crispy and nearly cooked through at this stage.
- Make the honey garlic sauce: While the wings are cooking, melt the butter in a pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant but not browned.
- Simmer sauce: Stir in the honey, tamari, gluten-free hot sauce, ground ginger, and smoked paprika. Let the mixture simmer gently for 3 to 4 minutes to develop flavors, then remove from heat.
- Coat wings with sauce and finish cooking: Once the wings are cooked initially, toss or brush them generously with the honey garlic sauce. Return the coated wings to the air fryer and cook for an additional 8 minutes to caramelize the sauce and finish cooking.
- Serve: Remove wings from the air fryer, let cool slightly, and serve warm. Enjoy your crispy, flavorful Honey Garlic Jerk Chicken Wings!
Notes
- For extra crispy wings, ensure wings are patted dry before seasoning.
- Adjust jerk seasoning amount based on preferred spice level.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, these wings can be baked at 425°F (220°C) for about 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use gluten-free tamari to keep the recipe gluten-free.
- Adding baking powder helps achieve a crispy skin without deep frying.
- Honey garlic sauce can be adjusted by adding more or less honey for sweetness.
