Description

This Hibachi Steak Bowl recipe offers a delicious Japanese-inspired meal featuring tender, marinated steak cubes seared to perfection and served atop fluffy white or fried rice with sautéed zucchini, mushrooms, and carrots. Enhanced with savory soy and sesame flavors and optionally drizzled with creamy yum yum sauce, it’s a satisfying and easy-to-make dish perfect for a family dinner or weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Steak Marinade

  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetables

  • 1 cup zucchini, halved and sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for vegetables)

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cups cooked white rice or fried rice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup yum yum sauce or spicy mayo (optional)
  • Sliced green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, toss the cubed steak with soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat a large skillet or flat-top griddle over medium-high heat. Add the butter and sear the marinated steak cubes for 2 to 3 minutes per side, cooking them to your preferred level of doneness and achieving a nice browned crust. Remove the cooked steak from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the vegetable oil. Sauté the zucchini, mushrooms, and julienned carrots for 4 to 5 minutes until they are tender yet retain a slight crispness.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Place a serving of cooked white or fried rice at the bottom of each bowl. Top the rice with the sautéed vegetables followed by the hibachi-style steak. Drizzle with yum yum sauce or spicy mayo if desired.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each bowl with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can substitute the steak with chicken, shrimp, or tofu for different protein options.
  • For a low-carb alternative, replace rice with cauliflower rice.
  • Yum yum sauce can be made at home using a blend of mayonnaise, ketchup, sugar, and vinegar.
