Description
This Halloween Sangria is a spooky and deliciously fruity beverage perfect for fall gatherings. Featuring a blend of dark red wine, blackberry and cranberry juices, and an array of fresh black fruits, it’s both refreshing and festive. The sangria is infused with muddled blackberries for extra flavor, then chilled to perfection, making it ideal for serving cold or over ice during Halloween celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
Fruits
- 6 oz blackberries (one container)
- 2 black plums, sliced
- 1 cup black grapes, halved
Liquids
- 750 mL dark red wine blend or red wine blend
- 2 cups cranberry-blackberry juice
- 1 bottle blackberry seltzer
Instructions
- Prepare the fruits: Half the black grapes and slice the black plums. Take half of the blackberries and place them in a small bowl. Using the back of a fork or a muddler, gently squish the blackberries to release their juices. Then, add all the prepared fruits, including the muddled blackberries, to a large pitcher.
- Add liquids: Pour the dark red wine blend, cranberry-blackberry juice, and blackberry seltzer over the mixed fruits in the pitcher. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients thoroughly and allow the flavors to blend.
- Chill and serve: For best results, refrigerate the sangria for at least two hours to let the flavors meld and serve cold. If you prefer to serve immediately, pour the sangria over ice cubes for a refreshing cool drink.
Notes
- Use a dark red wine blend for a richer flavor, but any red wine blend will work.
- Adjust sweetness by choosing the type of cranberry-blackberry juice or adding a sweetener if desired.
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute wine with additional blackberry seltzer or a non-alcoholic red wine.
- Prepare the sangria a few hours in advance to maximize flavor infusion.
- Serve with ice for a chilled drink if you do not refrigerate beforehand.
