Bread and Butter Mixture
- 1 loaf French bread, sliced in half lengthwise
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Cheese Toppings
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) so it’s ready for baking the bread.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: In a medium bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well blended to create a flavorful garlic butter spread.
- Spread Butter Mixture: Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the French bread halves, ensuring full coverage for maximum flavor.
- Add Cheese: Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the buttered bread. Follow by topping with the grated Parmesan cheese for a rich cheesy layer.
- Bake: Arrange the bread halves on a baking sheet, cheese side up, and bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Optional Broil: If you desire a golden browned top, broil the bread for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if using, slice into pieces, and serve warm for the best taste experience.
Notes
- You can substitute mozzarella with a blend of Italian cheeses for extra flavor complexity.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture if you want a spicy kick.
