Ingredients
Scale
Pastry and Cheese
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 wheel of brie (6–8 oz), rind on
Toppings and Garnishes
- ¼ cup honey, plus more for drizzling
- ¼ cup chopped pistachios
- Edible flowers (such as pansies, violets, marigolds)
- Fresh thyme or mint for garnish (optional)
Others
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare Puff Pastry and Brie: Lightly roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface just enough to smooth any creases. Place the whole wheel of brie in the center of the pastry.
- Fold Pastry Around Brie: Carefully fold the edges of the puff pastry over the brie, pleating slightly to enclose the cheese while leaving the top partially open to showcase the brie.
- Apply Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it gently over the exposed pastry to give it a shiny, golden finish during baking.
- Bake the Tart: Place the assembled tart on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.
- Add Honey and Pistachios: While the tart is still warm, drizzle it generously with honey and sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the top for sweetness and crunch.
- Garnish and Serve: Just before serving, decorate the tart with edible flowers and optionally fresh thyme or mint to add a garden-fresh aroma and elegant appearance.
Notes
- Make sure the puff pastry is properly thawed before use to avoid cracking during folding.
- Use edible flowers that are pesticide-free and safe for consumption.
- Brie rind is edible, but you can remove it if preferred for a milder flavor.
- For a nut-free version, omit the pistachios or substitute with toasted seeds.
- This tart is best served warm for a gooey cheese experience, but can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
