Description

A refreshing and vibrant Fruit Salad featuring a variety of fresh fruits tossed in a zesty citrus and honey syrup. Perfect for a light snack or a healthy dessert, this salad combines strawberries, grapes, apples, bananas, and blueberries with a sweet and tangy dressing made from honey and lemon or lime juice.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 1 lb strawberries, rinsed and sliced
  • 1 lb grapes (any kind), rinsed
  • 2 apples (any kind), rinsed and sliced
  • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

Syrup

  • 2 rounded Tbsp honey
  • Juice of 1 lemon OR juice of 1 lime OR 1/2 of each

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Citrus and Honey Syrup: In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the honey with the juice of one lemon, one lime, or equal halves of each until well combined. This syrup will provide a sweet and tangy flavor to the fruit salad.
  2. Prepare the Fruit: Rinse and dry all the fruit to remove any dirt or pesticides. Slice the strawberries, apples, and bananas uniformly for even texture, and leave the grapes and blueberries whole.
  3. Assemble the Salad: In a large bowl, place the whole grapes first, then layer the sliced strawberries, bananas, and apples, followed by the blueberries on top. This layering helps distribute flavors and visual appeal.
  4. Toss with Syrup: Pour the citrus and honey syrup over the fruit mixture and gently toss everything together to ensure the syrup evenly coats all the fruit pieces.
  5. Chill and Serve: If not serving immediately, cover the bowl and refrigerate the fruit salad to keep it fresh and chilled, enhancing the combined flavors before serving.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm fruits for the best texture in your salad.
  • Feel free to substitute or add other seasonal fruits such as melon, pineapple, or kiwi.
  • To prevent the apples and bananas from browning, brush them lightly with extra lemon or lime juice before adding to the salad.
  • If using frozen blueberries, thaw and drain excess water before adding.
  • This salad is best served chilled and consumed within 24 hours for optimal freshness.
