Description

Frozen Banana Dessert Bars are a delicious and healthy no-bake treat perfect for a quick snack or dessert. Made with ripe bananas, oats, peanut butter, and a touch of natural sweetness, these bars combine wholesome ingredients and rich chocolate for a satisfying frozen snack that’s easy to prepare and perfect for cooling off on warm days.

Ingredients

Scale

Banana Bar Mixture

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Topping

  • Extra dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make removal easier once the bars are frozen.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the mashed bananas, rolled oats, natural peanut butter, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt. Ensure the mixture is well blended for uniform texture.
  3. Add Chocolate Chips: Stir in 1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips evenly throughout the banana mixture to add bursts of chocolate flavor in every bite.
  4. Press Mixture into Pan: Spread the combined ingredients evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula or the back of a spoon for an even layer.
  5. Melt Chocolate Topping: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining chocolate chips together with coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval until smooth and glossy.
  6. Top Bars: Drizzle or spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top of the pressed banana mixture for a rich, chocolate finish.
  7. Freeze: Place the pan in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until the bars are firm enough to cut.
  8. Slice and Serve: Once frozen solid, remove the bars from the pan by lifting the parchment paper, then cut into 9 equal bars. Keep stored in the freezer until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • Add chopped nuts or shredded coconut to the mixture for extra texture and flavor.
  • Substitute almond or cashew butter for peanut butter to vary the taste or accommodate allergies.
  • Use honey or maple syrup according to dietary preference or availability.
  • For a vegan option, choose maple syrup instead of honey and ensure chocolate chips are dairy-free.
