Ingredients
Scale
Blondie Base
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pastel M&M’s or candy-coated chocolate eggs
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Frosting
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
- Festive sprinkles or extra candy for topping
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to make removal easier after baking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract, stirring thoroughly to combine.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the blondies tender.
- Incorporate Mix-ins: Fold in the pastel M&M’s and white chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter, distributing the candy and chocolate chips for bursts of sweetness in every bite.
- Bake the Blondies: Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 28 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool Completely: Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting. This prevents the frosting from melting when applied.
- Prepare the Frosting: In a bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well. Add milk and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting is smooth and spreadable. Add food coloring if desired to tint the frosting.
- Frost and Decorate: Once the blondies have cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Decorate with festive sprinkles or extra candy for an Easter-themed finish.
- Slice and Serve: For easier slicing, chill the frosted blondies in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. Then cut into 24 squares and serve.
Notes
- For neater slices, chill the frosted blondies before cutting to prevent the frosting from squishing.
- Customize the topping by using your favorite Easter candies or omit the frosting for a simpler, classic blondie bar.
