Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish (optional)
Cheese and Dough
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll sheet
Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking the rollups.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil and add the ground beef. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
- Season the Beef: Stir in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, mustard, and dill pickle relish if using. Mix well, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Prepare the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll sheet into a rectangle suitable for layering the filling.
- Assemble the Rollups: Spread the cooled beef mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a jelly roll shape. Slice the roll into 1½-inch pieces and place them cut-side up on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Apply Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with minced garlic, then brush this garlic butter mixture over the tops of each rollup.
- Bake: Bake the rollups for 15–18 minutes until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Garnish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle chopped parsley over the warm rollups and serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits or sautéed onions to the beef mixture before spreading it on the dough.
- These rollups are perfect as a party appetizer, game day snack, or a fun dinner option for kids.
- Serve with additional ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
