Ingredients
Scale
Dough
- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Filling
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish to prevent the rolls from sticking during baking.
- Mix Dough: In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups of Bisquick baking mix with 2/3 cup milk. Stir just until the mixture forms a soft dough, being careful not to overmix.
- Roll Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough out into a rectangle shape, approximately 9×12 inches, ensuring it’s an even thickness for consistent rolls.
- Add Filling: Brush the entire surface of the rolled dough with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon mixture over the buttered dough to create the flavorful filling.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 1 to 1.5-inch thick slices, forming individual cinnamon rolls.
- Arrange and Bake: Place the cinnamon rolls cut-side up in the greased baking dish, spacing them slightly apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes until the rolls are golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls bake, mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk in a small bowl until smooth and pourable. Adjust milk quantity to reach desired glaze consistency.
- Glaze and Serve: After removing the rolls from the oven, let them cool slightly. Drizzle the warm rolls generously with the vanilla glaze. Serve warm for the best flavor experience.
Notes
- For a thicker glaze, use less milk; for a thinner glaze, add more milk gradually.
- You can substitute whole milk with any milk alternative like almond or oat milk.
- Ensure not to overmix the dough to keep the rolls light and fluffy.
- These cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to two days and reheated.
- Optional: Add chopped nuts or raisins to the filling for added texture and flavor.
