Peanut Sauce Ingredients
- 1/2 tablespoon peanut oil or vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons double concentrated tomato paste
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Heat the Oil and Garlic: Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Fry the minced garlic for a few minutes, stirring often, until it begins to turn golden and fragrant.
- Add Tomato Paste: Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes, continuing to stir often. The tomato paste should sizzle slightly, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add Liquids and Peanut Butter: Pour in the water, then add the sugar, hoisin sauce, and creamy peanut butter. Increase heat to high and stir constantly until the peanut butter is fully incorporated and the sauce turns smooth. Allow it to bubble vigorously for 1-2 minutes.
- Simmer to Thicken: Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce gently for 5 minutes to thicken. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Season and Cool: Taste the sauce and season with salt as needed. Remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Transfer to the fridge to chill or serve immediately warm or at room temperature. Store refrigerated for several days.
Notes
- You can substitute vegetable oil if peanut oil is unavailable.
- The sauce pairs well with grilled chicken, noodles, or fresh spring rolls.
- Adjust sugar level to your taste preference.
- Keep refrigerated and consume within 3-4 days for best freshness.
