Description

This Chicken Noodle Casserole is a creamy, cheesy, and comforting baked pasta dish perfect for a hearty family dinner. Featuring tender shredded chicken, egg noodles, and a flavorful mix of cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and cheddar cheese, it’s topped with a buttery cracker crust for a delightful crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Topping

  • 1 cup crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the cooked egg noodles, shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, thawed peas and carrots, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking. Transfer the mixture into the dish and spread it evenly.
  4. Make Topping: In a small bowl, combine the crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs with melted butter until the mixture is evenly coated.
  5. Add Topping and Cheese: Sprinkle the buttery cracker mixture evenly over the casserole, then top it with the remaining ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving to allow it to set properly.

Notes

  • Rotisserie chicken is a convenient option that saves time and adds flavor.
  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup with cream of mushroom or homemade white sauce for a different taste.
  • Add a pinch of paprika or Italian seasoning to the mixture for extra depth of flavor.
