Ingredients
Scale
Cookies
- 40 chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreos)
Candy Melts
- 6 ounces white candy melts
- 6 ounces green candy melts
- 6 ounces purple candy melts
- 6 ounces orange candy melts
- 2 ounces black candy melts
Decorations
- Halloween sprinkles
- Candy eyeball decorations
Instructions
- Prepare workspace: Line a cookie sheet with wax paper or use a smooth reusable silicone baking mat to place the dipped cookies on. This prevents sticking and makes cleanup easy.
- Melt candy melts: In a microwave-safe glass bowl, melt one color of candy melts at 50% power. Stir every 30 seconds until completely smooth and fully melted, being careful not to overheat.
- Dip cookies: Using a spoon, drop an Oreo into the melted candy. Flip it upside down in the bowl to coat all sides thoroughly, then lift with a fork and shake off excess coating gently to avoid drips.
- Decorate initially: Place the coated cookie on the prepared sheet and immediately add Halloween sprinkles or candy eyeball decorations while the coating is still wet to ensure they stick properly.
- Repeat dipping: Repeat the melting and dipping process with the remaining candy melt colors, coating and decorating the cookies as desired.
- Add details: Once all cookies have hardened, melt the black candy melts and pipe spooky designs like spider webs or faces onto the cookies using a piping bag with a small tip.
- Store cookies: Store the fully set Halloween Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks to keep them fresh and crisp.
Notes
- Use wax paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
- Heating candy melts at 50% power prevents burning and ensures smooth melting.
- Decorate right after dipping while the candy is still wet for best adherence of toppings.
- Store in airtight container to maintain freshness and candy coating crispness.
- If candy melts begin to harden in the bowl, gently reheat at 50% power for short intervals.
