Description

These Cheesy Halloween Pizza Skulls are a fun and spooky twist on classic pizza, perfect for parties and kid-friendly Halloween snacks. Made with pizza dough filled with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and your choice of toppings, then baked in skull-shaped molds for a festive presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough

Filling

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni slices or chopped regular pepperoni
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Optional: chopped black olives, cooked sausage, or bell peppers for filling

Other

  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mold: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a skull-shaped silicone mold or metal pan with nonstick cooking spray to ensure easy removal of the pizza skulls after baking.
  2. Shape the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a flat surface and cut it into pieces large enough to line each skull cavity of the mold, allowing some dough to hang over the edges for sealing.
  3. Fill the skull cavities: Gently press the dough pieces into each skull-shaped cavity, ensuring the dough covers the bottom and sides. Spoon a layer of pizza sauce into each cavity followed by a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Add toppings and seasoning: Add desired toppings such as mini pepperoni, chopped black olives, cooked sausage, or bell peppers to each filled cavity. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning evenly over the fillings for added flavor.
  5. Seal the dough: Fold the overhanging dough over the top of the filling to enclose it completely, sealing the edges carefully to keep the filling inside while baking.
  6. Bake the pizza skulls: Place the mold on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Cool and serve: Remove the mold from the oven and allow the pizza skulls to cool for about 5 minutes before carefully removing them from the mold. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Make these pizza skulls ahead of time and reheat them in the oven for a quick Halloween party snack.
  • Get creative with spooky fillings like mozzarella balls as “eyeballs” or chopped sausage as “brains.”
