Ingredients
Scale
Beef Filling
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Flatbreads & Toppings
- 4 large flatbreads or naan
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
- Lettuce and tomato slices, for serving
Instructions
- Cook the beef mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with finely chopped onion and minced garlic until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat from the pan. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Add cheeses: Stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses into the warm beef mixture until evenly combined and slightly melted.
- Prepare flatbreads: Lay out the flatbreads on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of ketchup and mustard on one half of each flatbread to add flavor and moisture.
- Assemble stuffed flatbreads: Spoon the beef and cheese mixture onto the sauced half of each flatbread. Sprinkle chopped dill pickles over the filling. Fold the flatbread over to enclose the filling securely.
- Brush with olive oil: Lightly brush the outside of each stuffed flatbread with olive oil to help achieve a golden crispy crust when cooked.
- Cook on stovetop: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each stuffed flatbread for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese inside is melted. Adjust heat as needed to avoid burning.
- Serve: Serve the hot and crispy stuffed flatbreads with fresh lettuce and tomato slices either on the side or tucked inside for added freshness and crunch.
Notes
- Swap the ground beef for ground turkey or chicken to reduce fat and calories.
- Add sliced jalapeños to the beef mixture for a spicy variation.
- You can bake the stuffed flatbreads at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes instead of pan-frying for a hands-off cooking method.
