Ingredients
Scale
Espresso and Coffee
- 2 shots of espresso (or 1/3 cup strong coffee)
Syrup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- Pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract (optional)
Latte
- 1/2 to 1 tablespoon brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 cup oat milk (barista blend recommended)
- Ice cubes (enough to fill shaker and glass)
Instructions
- Make Brown Sugar Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup water. Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract if desired. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely to form the syrup.
- Prepare Espresso: Brew 2 shots of espresso using an espresso machine or moka pot, or prepare 1/3 cup of strong coffee as an alternative if espresso is unavailable.
- Shake Espresso with Syrup and Ice: Fill a cocktail shaker or jar halfway with ice cubes. Pour in the brewed espresso and add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of brown sugar (or desired amount of homemade brown sugar syrup). Shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy.
- Assemble the Latte: Fill a serving glass with ice cubes. Strain the shaken espresso mixture into the glass, then slowly pour 1/2 cup oat milk over the drink to create a layered visual effect.
- Serve and Adjust: Stir the latte to combine ingredients evenly. Taste and adjust sweetness or amount of oat milk to your preference. Enjoy your creamy Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso Latte!
Notes
- Use barista blend oat milk for a creamier texture and better froth.
- Adjust the brown sugar quantity depending on how sweet you prefer your latte.
- For a caffeine-free version, substitute espresso with strong brewed decaf coffee.
- Optional cinnamon in both syrup and drink adds a warm spice note, great for fall or winter.
- Shaking the espresso with ice enhances the flavor and gives a light, frothy texture.
