Description

These basic cauliflower fritters are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer, perfect as a low-carb snack or a vegetarian-friendly dish. Made with steamed cauliflower, Parmesan cheese, and flavorful green onions, they’re pan-fried to crispy golden perfection and served warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cauliflower (cut into florets)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Steam Cauliflower: Steam or boil the cauliflower florets until fork-tender, about 8–10 minutes. Drain well and let cool slightly.
  2. Mash Cauliflower: Transfer the cooked cauliflower to a large bowl and mash with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth with a few small chunks remaining for texture.
  3. Mix Batter: Add the eggs, flour, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped green onions, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and optional parsley to the mashed cauliflower. Mix thoroughly until well combined to form the fritter batter.
  4. Heat Oil: Heat a few tablespoons of olive or vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
  5. Form Fritters: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the batter per fritter and drop into the hot oil, then flatten slightly with a spatula to form patties.
  6. Cook Fritters: Fry the fritters for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy all over.
  7. Drain Fritters: Transfer cooked fritters to a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve: Serve the cauliflower fritters warm with your favorite dipping sauce for a savory appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Use gluten-free flour to make these fritters gluten-free.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly dust the fritters with additional flour before frying.
  • Leftover fritters reheat well in a toaster oven or air fryer for maintaining crispiness.
