Dip Ingredients
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1 jalapeño, seeded and chopped (seeded for mild heat)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Peel and pit the avocados, seed and chop the jalapeño according to your preferred heat level, and mince the garlic clove.
- Combine in Blender: Place the avocados, jalapeño, sour cream, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper into a food processor or blender.
- Blend Until Smooth: Process the mixture until it becomes creamy and smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed to ensure even blending.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the dip and tweak the seasoning by adding more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño if desired.
- Chill Before Serving: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to let flavors meld and dip thicken slightly.
- Serve: Enjoy chilled with tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or use it as a spread or topping for tacos.
Notes
- For additional heat, retain some or all jalapeño seeds when chopping.
- Add a splash of olive oil for a silkier texture or some Greek yogurt to lighten the dip.
- Best enjoyed fresh the same day, but can be stored in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface to prevent browning for up to 2 days.
