Description

Indulge in the perfect blend of autumn flavors with this Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie featuring a crunchy streusel topping. It’s a delightful twist on a classic Thanksgiving dessert that will have your guests asking for seconds!

Ingredients

Scale

For the filling:

  • 3/4 cup apple butter
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

For the crust:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

For the streusel topping:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together apple butter, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in evaporated milk and heavy cream until smooth.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  5. In a small bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the streusel topping. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in pecans if using.
  6. Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the pumpkin filling.
  7. Bake the pie for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. If browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
  8. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • You can substitute homemade apple butter or use store-bought for convenience.
  • For a nut-free version, omit the pecans in the streusel topping.
  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a festive touch.
