Description

These Air Fryer Mini Hand Pies are quick, flaky dessert bites perfect for any occasion. Using store-bought pie crust and your favorite pie filling, these tasty treats are ready in just 22 minutes with minimal effort. Air frying them makes for a golden, crispy crust without the need for deep frying or oven baking. Finish with a simple powdered sugar glaze for a delightful sweet touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Pie Crust

  • 1 package Pillsbury pie crusts

Filling

  • Pie filling of choice (cherry, lemon, key lime, etc.) – about 1 to 1½ tablespoons per pie

For Cooking

  • Olive oil spray (extra virgin olive oil)

Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • ~1 teaspoon milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Cut Pie Crust Circles: Roll out the pie crust dough on a flat surface. Using a 4-inch round cutter or a large coffee cup, cut out circles from the dough.
  2. Add Filling: Place 1 to 1½ tablespoons of your chosen pie filling in the center of each pie crust circle, making sure not to overfill to avoid leakage during cooking.
  3. Seal Edges: Fold the pie crust circles in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges tightly.
  4. Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly spray both sides of each hand pie with extra virgin olive oil spray to help achieve a golden, crisp crust.
  5. Air Fry the Pies: Place the hand pies in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 6 minutes. Carefully flip them over and cook for an additional 6 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Make the Glaze: While the pies cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar with approximately 1 teaspoon of milk to create a thick but spreadable glaze. Adjust milk quantity as needed for consistency.
  7. Glaze the Pies: Drizzle or brush the glaze evenly over the slightly cooled mini hand pies. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Use any pie filling you like such as cherry, lemon, key lime, apple, or blueberry.
  • Do not overfill the pies to prevent leaking during air frying.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook the pies in batches to avoid overcrowding for even cooking.
  • The glaze can be flavored with a few drops of vanilla extract or lemon juice for added taste.
  • These pies are best enjoyed warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
